Research coordinator Vicente Avendano led a large group of coordinators and interns to the macaw clay lick on our beautiful protected reserve. It is part of our ongoing efforts at Hoja Nueva to monitor local macaw populations, learn more about them and identify conservation actions in the Las Piedras. One of our largest concerns is the ongoing extraction of hardwood trees, which are necessary as nesting habitat for many macaw species, and why we so desperately need to protect this forest! 🦜
