An artificial intelligence model developed by researchers at Cornell University is using bird-sighting data to estimate their presence at a given time and location, providing information that could be vital for conservation purposes. The model was trained using billions of data points from eBird, an online portal and database where birders can record the observations they make in the field. The researchers are now training the model to get estimates on abundance of species.
